A good start to conference

The Conservative Party Conference got off to a good start for me and Lynda with our canal side drinks reception at our canal boat home for the week, MV Princethorpe.

We welcomed friends from the world of politics and local government, including (in alpha order): Will Brooks, Andrew Bowles, Merrick Cockell, Arash Fatemian, Andrew Lewer, David & Melanie Magee, Angela Page, Ben Page, Gary Porter, David Shakespeare, Joe Simpson, David Smith and Luke Taylor plus a pair of gate crashers from Bicester!

Lynda’s Jack Russell had come with us and found canals and boats quite intriguing but he loved the attention lavished on him by most of our guests!!

We got through a dozen bottles of fizz and a big chunk of cheesecake kindly provided by our narrow boat owner while we put the world’s problems to rights.  Festivities ended around 8:30 pm when our last visitors left and we settled down to pizza on the boat once we had worked out how the oven in the galley worked!
