MPs need to learn to make speeches

I have just watched someone called Karen Bradley who is apparently a MP mumble and stumble through a short conference speech to introduce the afternoon session.

She clearly had not studied the words provided to her nor practised them sufficiently.  She was therefore unable to look at her audience and failed to sustain any meaningful eye contact because she constantly looked down at the speech she had been given.  I found it disappointing in what I assume is an experienced parliamentarian and it is not the first time at this conference that people with a tiny introductory role have stumbled and mumbled.  We need to do better.
