Three score years and ten

EU flagI enjoy my 70th birthday on 9 July and I thought this might be an opportunity for modest celebration. Now, I am not so sure.  I have had to renew my driving licence and this has proved to be bureaucratic and difficult because I have allowed my passport to lapse as I wait for the EU referendum to learn if I can have a proper British blue passport issued in the name of the Queen and not Brussels.

i seem to have cracked the DVLA bureaucracy and have been sent a horrible little plastic card which is, apparently, my new driving licence. To my horror, there is a Euro flag in the top left hand corner. What a British driving licence has to do with Brussels is quite beyond me but it makes me very angry.

I am pleased to observe that there is also a Union Jack on this grotty little card so I have taken a copy and pasted it over the wretched EU flag. No doubt some little jobsworth will object to my rejection of EU domination but I will wait to see what form this takes,

  1. Pete says:

You are quite fortunate the drivers license was your big hurdle marking your 70th birthday. Right after I turned 70 the beginning of May I gave up my idyllic lifestyle of nearly two decades, (living in a remote isolated cabin in Alaska’s Northern wilderness), and moved to civilization 4,000 miles away. You managed to quell your consternation about the EU flag by covering it, I may have a bit of a harder time adapting… Hope you have a great birthday.
