I enjoy alliterations so was tempted to title this as Brexit plus a word rhyming with pollocks but thought I should desist. However, hearing tonight’s news asking if ATM machines will cope on Friday if there is a Brexit vote and people rush to withdraw their savings sounds like irresponsible madness, searching for a story at any price.
It is clear to me that there are substantial risks whether we REMAIN or LEAVE. My judgement is that remaining leaves the country in a parlous condition. The European experiment is bound to fail unless they find a dictator and a dictatorial constitution to make the 28 members (or perhaps 27 after Thursday’s vote) reach necessary decisions about important issues. This will not happen so the experiment is bound to fail. The only question is when. I am disappointed that economists and chief executives of multi nationals have taken a short term-view and failed to consider the certain implosion of the Eurozone and/or the European Union. I am quite clear it is only a matter of time and I am sure our country is much better out of it before it happens. Brexit might even shake the Brussels bureaucrats into realising their model is failing and to start considering how to move to one that works.
I look forward to Friday and discovering that the UK has voted to LEAVE. This will be best for the whole of the UK and for the European Union.
