Adderbury Parish Poll Result

Q1.In light of concerns by residents about speeding traffic in the village, this poll is requesting Adderbury Parish Council to ask Oxfordshire County Council to carry out a formal consultation with all residents on the introduction of traffic calming measures to reduce speed of traffic on village roads. Votes cast: YES: 152  NO: 299

Q2. It has been identified that Adderbury Parish Council, Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council have at their disposal up to £30,000 to spend on traffic related projects in the village. If effective traffic calming requires more funds to be committed do you want that money to be sourced from some of the existing funds (known as Section 106) available to village projects? Votes cast: YES: 150  NO: 303

Q3. Do you agree with the Parish Council’s decision to support new Sports and Community facilities on the Milton Road and to use the Section 106 funds already allocated, for this project?  Votes cast: YES: 318  NO: 136

The turnout was 19.4%. Thanks to everyone who turned out to vote.  Given the lack of polling cards and the limited polling hours, this is a good outcome in support of the parish council’s policies and actions.  The poll will have cost us all close to £1,000 and was forced upon us by a group of ten individuals mainly from Horn Hill Road and the new estates on Milton Road at the Annual Parish Meeting and contrary to the wishes of the majority of those attending that meeting.

Victoria Prentis

This is a stupid law that allows ten people to impose their selfish will on others and needs changing.  Attention, Mrs Victoria Prentis MP for Banbury – a good job for you with your legal background.

  1. Philip Le Mare says:

Such a good result, which many of us predicted anyway in these unpredictable political times, and a job very well done by a small group of dedicated villagers, so a big thank you.
Hi Victoria, hope you will follow up on Keith’s idea.
